Heritage Fair Resources
The Heritage Fairs Program celebrates history and culture through projects presented to the public, across Canada, by students in Grades 4 through 12. Students looking for Newfoundland and Labrador topics are encouraged to consult the 5 volume set of the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador and the 6 volume set of the Book of Newfoundland. These can be found in the Centre for Newfoundland Studies and public libraries across the province. The Public Library also has a number of Collection Guides which highlight books and articles on various topics. The Heritage Newfoundland and Labrador Web Site is an important place to start as well. Memorial University's Digital Archives Initiative also offers a selection of digitized resources from the Centre and other local sponsors.
Students researching Heritage Fair topics are welcome to visit the Centre for Newfoundland Studies, search the Library Catalogue and search for journal articles in the Periodical Article Bibliography. The online resources below may also aid in the research. Many more websites can be found on our Newfoundland and Labrador Websites by Subject page, our Places in Newfoundland and Labrador page and our History, Heritage and Culture page.
