Recall Policy

General Policy

When you borrow books from the Library, the Library reserves the right to recall them from you in the following circumstances:

  • If a book is needed for Reserve, we will recall it immediately.
  • If a book is requested by another user, it will be recalled from you after you have had it for 7 days from the initial sign-out date. Please note that the 7 day period is calculated from the original sign-out date, and not the renewal date.
  • If another patron also has an active hold on aa item that you are picking up from the hold shelf, you will only be able to sign the item out for 2 weeks before it must be returned.

Notification of Recall

Recall notices are sent by e-mail. Please note that it is the user's responsibility to check their MUN e-mail and/or my.mun account for library updates.

Fines

An overdue fine of $2.00 per day will be charged for each recalled book once the new due date has passed.

Out of town, away from the office, or otherwise out of touch?

If you are out of town (research, holidays, conference), please remember that you are still responsible for returning any recalled books and for paying any overdue charges. Please make arrangements for someone to check your mail and return any recalled books for you.

Thank you for your cooperation with this policy. It is in place to ensure that MUN students, faculty, and staff have timely access to materials.
