Appointment of Interim Dean
Janet Bangma has been appointed interim dean of Libraries effective July 19, 2021, and ending July 18, 2022, or upon completion of a successful search for a permanent dean, whichever occurs first. Following a call for nominations and expressions of interest, and in consultation with the unit, the provost and vice-president (academic) recommended the appointment which was approved by the president. Ms. Bangma, currently associate dean of Libraries, joined Memorial University Libraries as associate university librarian with the Health Sciences Library in 2014 after working at the University of Saskatchewan Libraries. In her current position, she is responsible for many pan-library initiatives including library IT services, strategic planning, as well as advancing the libraries’ role in supporting Memorial’s teaching, learning and research. Details on the search for permanent dean will be shared as they become available.
