HSL Commons

HSL Commons Computers

The Health Sciences Library's Commons computers are centrally located within the library. Anyone may use these computers, but a login is required, and all users must comply with Memorial University's policy on Appropriate Use of Computing Resources.

Memorial students, faculty, and staff should use their MUN Login username and password on Commons computers. Guests may request an account at the HSL's Library Services desk. Photo ID, name, phone number, and email address are normally required to obtain an account.

Software

All Commons computers are equipped with:

  • Adobe Reader
  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • SPSS (students may download SPSS here)

Other available software:

  • Adobe Acrobat X (scanner station only)
  • Epson Scan (scanner station only)
  • ScanSoft PaperPort (scanner station only)

Memorial students may also download some software, including Office 365, SPSS, and more. See Software for You for details.

Scanner

The scanner computer station is equipped with a scanner and microform reader. The scanner station is also equipped with Adobe Acrobat X software.

Computer Classrooms

Computer Classrooms A and B may be booked for hands-on training sessions by members of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, and NL Health Services. Memorial users should use their Memorial username and password to log in. NLHS users should contact HSIMS for computer access.

When the classrooms have not been booked for an official session, they are available for use by students in Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy.

Classroom computers have all software available on the Commons computers (listed above).
