Introducing OpenAthens

This summer, Memorial University Libraries began implementing a new system, OpenAthens, to provide access to its e-resources, including databases, journals, articles, and ebooks.

A full migration to OpenAthens is scheduled for December 2026.

OpenAthens is an identity-based authentication system that will provide access to the Memorial University Libraries’ licensed online resources using single sign-on (SSO) technology, both on and off campus. It provides a more secure and streamlined experience for library users, replacing EZproxy software and IP address-based authentication.

As Memorial University Libraries transitions from EZproxy to OpenAthens, it is possible that some faculty, staff and students have already discovered and used Memorial’s OpenAthens institutional login available on some publisher sites.
