Services for NL Health Services employees

As of April 2025, library services for NLHS employees are provided exclusively by NLHS Library Services

NLHS employees are guest users of Memorial University Libraries and may avail of the following services and spaces.

Borrowing

NL Health Services employees may obtain a free guest card from the Health Sciences Library. Bring your NLHS ID card or photo ID and proof of address to the Library Services Desk in the Health Sciences Library (H1615).

Visit our borrow, return, renew pages to learn about loan periods and other borrowing details (NL Health Services employees follow Guest borrowing periods).

OneSearch accounts

If you don’t have a current MUN Login ID, a OneSearch account lets you view your library account, request items for pickup, and renew your loans. A OneSearch account does not provide off-campus access to our online resources such as ebooks, ejournals, or databases.

NL Health Services employees may obtain a OneSearch account by visiting the Library Services Desk in the Health Sciences Library.

In-person access to digital resources and subscriptions

NL Health Services employees may access our subscription resources such as databases, ejournals, and ebooks in person at the Health Sciences Library or at other Memorial Libraries.

We are unable to provide off-campus access to databases, journals, and other electronic subscriptions to anyone who is not a current MUN student, staff, or faculty member.

Open access resources

Open access research materials are freely accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

You can search for open access items in OneSearch. On the search results page under “Show only,” select “Open access” to only see open access research.

Library spaces and technology

The Health Sciences Library has computers that guests may use. Visit our printing and technology page for full details. Memorial University has a guest wifi network that everyone may connect to on campus.

NL Health Services employees may use the study spaces available throughout the library; study rooms may only be booked by Memorial students, faculty, and staff.

Cross-appointments with Memorial University Faculty of Medicine

If you are cross-appointed with the Faculty of Medicine, you may avail of all services available to Memorial faculty, such as our literature search service. Contact us at hslinfo@mun.ca to learn more.
