National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
This Thursday, Sept. 30, all Memorial University will be closed to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the historic and current injustices faced by Indigenous Peoples and to learn about what we can do to live up to the Truth and Reconciliation Comission of Canada's Calls to Action.
If you would like to check out some great books by or about Canada's Indigenous peoples, please see our book display in the library or our Flickr list.
On Thursday, Sept. 30, Memorial University campuses will be lighting campus landmarks orange. Wearing or displaying orange is a symbol of solidarity with those who survived residential schools and an act of remembrance for those who never made it home. More information about Orange Shirt Day is available from First Light.
