Special Collections Access Policies

The Queen Elizabeth II general rare books collection and other special collections may be searched online by using either Memorial University Libraries' Catalogue or bibliographies available through the Digital Archive. Items are non-circulating and must be used in the Archives and Special Collections reading room (currently located in the Maps Room on level 1 of the Queen Elizabeth II Library).

Items from the collections may be viewed by appointment only. Appointments should be made at least 24 hours in advance, with a list of the items to be retrieved supplied at that time. New patrons will be required to register on arrival.

Reference questions will be handled in-person by the Special Collections librarian. Reference questions may also be submitted by email.

The photocopying of fragile items is not permitted. Digital cameras may be used with permission from staff.

To make an appointment and for questions related to the Special Collections, please contact the Special Collections Librarian, Patrick Warner.
